Volunteering – New Canadians
Volunteering can help you integrate into the community as you meet new people and learn about Canadian society. Coming from diverse backgrounds, you can bring new perspectives and skills to your new community.
We have listed some of the essential guidelines for volunteering in Canada:
- Volunteers can only volunteer with non-profit organizations or at special community events
- Volunteers cannot volunteer doing work that someone is usually paid to do
- Volunteers should go through an application and interview process before they can begin volunteering
- Volunteers must have a criminal record check conducted by the RCMP if they are working with vulnerable groups (children, senoirs, poeple with disabilities, and at risk individuals)
